At First Kama (Desire of Nature) Got Developed in the Mind of
the God.
From that the first seed (reason of growth) emerged .
Intellects through their intelligence, by thinking through their
conscious mind,
made the growth place of the existing thing from the
non-existing thing.
The moral support of the Indian
samskar (moral values) is Dharma (Duty), Artha (Material Prosperity), Kama
(lust) and Moksha (Liberation). It can also be called as the prowess of the
aggregate of four. If we have accepted these four prowesses in a healthy way,
then the state that we would achieve in the end is social, full of moral
values which merge into the sea of the Hindu triad.
We can see the firm faith in the eyes
of every Indian, about setting the flow of such rich heritage in the Hindu
triad. We are proud about the fact that this purified treasure is present in us
inspite of the deficiency of the worldly pleasures. Through these four
prowesses we have gained the controls originated from their values and we all
collectively agree to accept this with full faith.
Self-connect to the sage-lineage and
the sages, continually learning about the apex work done by them brings ecstasy
in us. For the common people like us, they presented their extensive
approaches through thoughtful words to keep it simple and easy to understand.
Inspite of various attacks of this culture, these honoraries have lived forever
through such flow of their apex work. Only because of this, we have been able
to cross the sea of constructions and transport the life-boat to the other
banks with the help of such enlightened guides.
The disciplined path formed by the social
associations, for living in this world and for moving towards the other world,
its restrictions on the Sutras(formulae), ascertain the prime duty of life.
Saints like Namdev have clearly depicted that by walking on such a journey, the
merging of the individual self into the universal self happens at the end. Such
depictions are very clearly printed through the declarations of Namdev - ‘Aata
Vishwatmake Deve’.
As per the laws of discipline,
progressiveness exists through celibacy by preserving Dharma (righteousness),
through marital bonding following the path of righteousness and through
liberation merging in Dharma using the path of renunciation. In the marital
bonding, it is acceptable to have material prosperity and lust by abiding to
the duty. A journey thus carried out, easily makes a human competent to move
towards the life of renunciation.
A creation obtains the mentality of
abandoning all desires only when he enters a class above these four prowesses.
Thousands have toiled hard to preserve these due orders. Due to the penance
thus done, we can still see the shower of the water of these ancient streams
being mercifully sprinkled in our modern inhabited discussions. These streams
are our Cultural Festivals.
Indian Cultural Festivals makes the
mind energetic. Though these festivals are the pretext to build the social
organization, still the basic purpose is to bring happiness consistently. A
country cannot stay youthful if it doesn’t have the spring season in it. The
Indians who always want to stay in the spring i.e be youthful portray the
positive side of living.
Vasant-Panchami (A Hindu Festival) is
the Festival of RatiKamadeva. This festival has been introduced to remove the
wanton mentality and bring high spirit, energy and happiness. By touching such
horizons of energy and happiness this festival wants to divert the attention of
the humans towards nature. It signaled to forget that which is old, dead and
keeping up the motion like the way idol move towards the light until the
Rathasaptami.
Adorning the different colors of
nature onto the clothes that were worn, the pollen of the bloomed flowers
reminding us of the rejuvenated spirits, emphasizing that life is beautiful,
fragrant as well as glowing, this festival was successful in redefining the meaning
of purity. It also helped in surfacing the creativity present in individuals
and gave birth to different rhymes and melodious songs. The lamps of our lives
glowing near the basil plants would feel blessed to nurture the crawling kids
to make them stand sturdily. But today we need that light which would show us
the path which gives a balance of happiness in the struggling lives.
Indians don’t like to live
discolored, worn-out lives. As and when we became incapable to proclaim that we
will not participate in the festivals which do not bring lusciousness and
colorfulness to the mind, from then on the mechanical life started getting long
life. This unnaturally gained tough and dry life has left the hands of the
infancy present in us and has held hands of the spiritual thoughts imposed on
us and is moving from long to prolonged living. In this course we have
forgotten to give the right values to life. Our natural downfall started here.
Carrying the baggage of happiness and
sorrow, the spring (or the youth) enters in us from the infinite space. During
the cultural festivals we ask for the blessings of 100 years between the times
we are on this earth and before we leave for the heavenly abode. We do not feel
inferior to ask anything from the pure and witnessing Upanishads. Thus the
roles played by the festivals are the green chapters of the historical bliss.
The evidence of the infant’s long lives is stored in these green chapters that
are preserved by the aged people who have experienced this bliss.
One of the important parts of the
human life is Kama i.e Lust. It has been prohibited by the scriptures to serve
lust by neglecting Dharma (righteousness) and Artha (Meaningfulness). This is
also the purity of the festivals formed. Such festivals convey that serving of
lust is acceptable in a marital duty when it is supported by Dharma and Artha.
Kama (Lust) is the first seed of the universe. As told innocently in the verse
of the Veda ‘Kamastdgre Samavartataadhi…’ the first conception of the nature
was Kama i.e. lust. While saying so, the sages have put forth the fact as it
is, without bringing in the false persistence. This shows the
maturity of the thoughts of the Indian sages.
With the bonding of Shiva &
Shakti, the Universe was born as the original seed. Living as the fraction of
the fractional universe, as we do not understand the purpose and the motive of
the Kama, we tend to hit the roots of the Artha & Dharma with the immature
axe of Kama and cut the tree of life. The nature’s comprehension behind the
attraction of male and female is the desired fruit of subtle unawareness of the
earlier life. Recurrence of the desires (in this life or between lives) is the
nature of the centrifugal universe. We accept the vibrations coming from the
centre to the circumference, just for the sake of motivation. Though this is an
eternal desire, why do we accept it and how do we accept it, should be the
questions raised by those who walk on the path of karma (performing
deeds). Once we start asking questions, we will one day be
successful is getting the answer of why we were separated from the divine
God. Many spiritual teachers have tried to tell us the meaning of
what was the motive of God to keep this door of Kama open. However we have
become so deaf by falling in this lust, that we are unable to hear the voices
of such spiritual gurus.
Considering the bonding of male and
female to be instrument for transforming the life into divine and merging of
individual self to universal self, will create imbalance. This is so, as this
desire of bonding may move away from the centre of Dharma and Artha towards the
circumference and will give rise to its own individualistic approach. When the
energy moves from the centre to the circumference it does not become strong. We
have to newly start poring over the fact that centre is the truth.
The collection of that Artha
(meaningfulness) which is energized by Dharma (righteousness) done by us with a
specific purpose is called Kama (Lust). This annexed collection is constantly
seen in as a resultant in front of us. By the conduct of Kama, a persons’
Dharma and Artha forms are made obvious. His life’s appropriate, inappropriate
forms of latent purposes, in different situations, in the forms of their
daughters and sons, keep becoming visible. Worthy or unworthy, virtuous or
non-virtuous daughters and sons are the product of the balanced application of
Artha and Dharma by us. We need keep in our mind that this has nothing to do
with fate. It is a product of our own accumulation of merit and demerit.
Kama is a mental power. It is a
life-giving power as well. It, at times, comes forth in the form of spirit or
in the form of worldly power. This is because, as per the many learning, it is
a divine God. Indians have accepted all parts of life after its detailed study.
Accepting the purpose of any subject and connecting it to the mankind, is a
distinctive deed in itself.
In the Gurukuls this deed conducted
from birth to evolvement and from evolvement until the death, by giving the
basic knowledge of the different phases of life. Hence the student understands
that serving Kama is the national and social duty. Gurukul teaches
the students on how to serve Kamabefore he enters into this journey. Due
to this the student will not serve a blind Kama. Thus his innocently
served Kama gives birth to a branch of the social tree and asserts
the need of the social organization.
When a person is completely aware of
why a marriage is required and he is conscious about the same such a person is
still a celibate even though he is bound in the marital nuptial. Such
declaration has been allowed by the scholars. A nation, whose philosophical
evolution is at such a pinnacle and who has planted the sacrificial human
values throughout the universe, cannot remain without being felicitated by the
entire universe.
The water-consumption ritual in the
marriage ceremony wherein there is a pledge taken as ‘Dharme cha Arthe cha Kame
cha Naaticharami’, Naaticharami means not over-doing (Na Aati Charami), ‘I will
not serve these 3 prowesses excessively’. However men who abided by such
rituals are not found anymore. We have become depraved. We have lost our
virtues because multiple generations couldn’t consciously accept these three
prowesses. Such virtu-less lives have crossed even the disciplined lives of the
animals and stooped to the lowest categories.
The Kama period in the
animals is innate. If we study deeper we would come to know that they are not
desperate to serve Kama. As per the seasons, the need of Kama that
evolves in them shows the healthy way of living. In a way it is observance of
celibacy. At the present moment, if we look at our own lives, why can’t we see
such a healthy living? We will also have to start working on this studied
knowledge.
Kama, Anger, Fear and Death are the
basic characteristics of animals. Now, in them, even humans have started being
considered. Rather, his anger due to subjugation of Kama, with the fear that
Kama would not be available for him, because of the sad state
of Kama and due to the lack of penance, he has started moving towards
his death. This truth which is clear as sunlight cannot be hidden into a fist.
The difference between the animals
and human is the intelligence, the mind and the brain. Though on the face of
it, it sounds pleasant to hear this, but it is not seen through the deeds done
by the humans!
We don’t even feel guilty for this
offence. To maintain the heretic hypocrisy of being a human, we have
stooped lower than the animals.
Animals never give a declaration like
‘Dharme cha Arthe cha Kame cha Naaticharami’. It is we humans who do it. As the
social catalyst, this responsibility of ours is very valuable. During the
marriage ceremony, the prayer said in front of the divine fire as ‘I will
achieve the Artha which consists Dharma, and with the collection of such Artha
I will benefit in Kama and that too rightful Kama’, is to get the moral of
living. If there is no understanding of this fact, then the ritual of
water-consumption in the marriage ceremony is futile.
Earth is the container of Fire. A
woman is also the mother earth. She also can be the carrier of Fire. She is
capable of giving a child to this motherland, which is as radiant as the Sun.
If this is the hidden meaning, then why should she shudder to dedicate her
radiant child to the motherland? With the element of fire in her and if her own
understanding is progressing, she can give birth to small radiant light
herself. Unfortunately it is seen that as the time moved on such carriers of
fire have started reducing.
The misused Kama which considers
woman as a substance of use obtained through the marriage and cannot preserve
her self-esteem has destroyed her capabilities to give birth to radiant
children. With this the possibility of having bright parents has also got
destroyed. Seeing intensive dreams of reaching the goals by walking on the
burning coals should also be considered as the bright deeds of human. Parents
should consider it as the honor of their linage to dedicate their child to the
nation. The couples who give birth to the radiant children take birth on this
earth as the streams of the disciplined life and by the mechanism of yami (that
which controls) and yam (self-control) can get the knowledge and satisfaction.
A woman is a divine power and divine
mother as well. After the penance of 1000’s of births, out of the lakhs of
birth happening, only few come in the form of Goddess Jagdamba. When this
happens, the happiness of the mother earth can be seen in the form of the ever
rising brightness of the sun. The parents of all those warriors who smilingly
gave away their lives for the sake of motherland must have been motivated by
this bright sun. This brightness itself had got flown in the form of blood for
the motherland! The ascetic of those times who could create a spark out of this
carrier of fire was the ‘Aadi Shakti’ i.e. Divine Power.
The parents of Nivruttinath
(Deliverance) and Dnyaneshwar (Knowledge) came together only 4 times to give
birth to the divine flames. This reference was to spread the purpose of the
Kama of the renounced life to the universe, through the motherly milk blossomed
in the form of knowledgeable deliverance. They gave a motherly touch and
immersed in self-immolation. Here the mother was the ‘Aadi Maya’ i.e. ‘Divine
Motherly Affection’. The purpose behind both these deeds is
eagerness to remove the curse from the forehead of the motherland. We are
ignoring such social sacrifices done and are praying for progress of fate.
Should we call this illiteracy or dalliance of the ill-fate? The purpose of the
births of revolutionaries and sages surfaces the understanding of the
completely mature Kama. Rubbing the fistful mud of the motherland on the
forehand, performing actions by uniting the divine power and affection, we can
change our fate as well.
‘We have come from the Brightness
In this Brightness shall we dissolve,
Travelling in this mud and rising,
We will newly see the sun again’
This declaration should be sounded in
the lullaby of every night. This is the prime duty of the Indians.
This is so because Dharma was created
by the groups. By the support of the groups Artha became useful as the medium
of order of life. Kama became the doctrine of dualism as it was the
centre for attraction between the different genders. However for Moksha (Liberation)
a human has to travel alone. For this there is a need of a clear mind. There
exists a relationship of the Dharma with intelligence, Kama with the
mind, Moksha with the soul and Artha with the body. Therefore, without
understanding the true form of the labor of the mind i.e Kama, one cannot move
towards the perfect unity with the lord i.e. Advaita.
Dharma is decorated with the
intellects. Moksha is the shadow of the soul; similarly it is natural for the
Artha to be combined with the body. For the body to grow properly, for
maintaining it by taking Artha as the medium, we should live a hundred years.
This was the prayer and not a begging of the Upanishads. Gain the
happiness & joy by holding the hands of the mind - through Artha & Kama
which means healthy body and holding the hands of Kama, but balance it
out!
Those who see the creation healthily
gets injured by the cupid of Lord Shiva. It is a symptom of his extreme
fatherhood. We are the birth form of the expressed fatherhood. Signaling us to
reflect our lives from Kama into Rama, Shiva starts becoming like
Rama; this is one of the extraordinary adjustments.
The meeting of the earth with the sky
is the unification of Shiva & Shakti. The one who can balance the Shiv-bow
of the cupid’s arrow can only gain the aim of being Rama. Even though being
liberated, those who are getting hit by the cupid’s arrow for the benefit of
the world, displaying the form of Shiva without any hesitance, are innocent and
plain Indians. Even if the universe is a divine truth, yet those who consider
it as an illusion or unreal, he himself lives in illusion. This illusion is a
truth for them. The illusion that doesn’t accept this universe as the truth is
not acceptable to the sages. If we consider it as the truth, then we should
assume that we have not come across the truth as yet. Without getting the
experience, ignoring the affection means ignoring the motherhood and by doing
so we are not going to reach anywhere. This is the reason why the modern
science is so scribbled.
The journey done with the 4 prowess
doesn’t get completed without self-realization. Serving of the meaningful Kama
which contains righteousness, this point of view should be embossed during
birth itself. Once this is done, Gurukul is capable of embossing all life in
the minds of the students. So the parents itself have to observe rightful Kama
so that the child’s journey of life would be meaningful. Then they can
definitely build prosperous thoughts in their children. Indians have given the
rank of scriptures to the Kama by doing a meditative study of what
should be the mental state of the parents, what should be their purpose before
creation and through this have obstructed the birth of the not needed purposes.
Life is a struggle and it has to be
that way because this is a land of deeds (karmabhumi). Over here we get an
opportunity to change the collection of deeds of previous lives. Lord Indra
(God of all senses) though lives in the heaven where beautiful maidens and
pleasures are available; still he got obsessed with Ahilya who stayed on the
earth! This will bring a picture of Lord Indra as a sensual enjoyer which is
entirely wrong. Lord Indra is the King of all Gods. Dev i.e. God this word is
created from the word ‘Dyu’ which means Brightness. The attraction of Lord Indra
towards Ahilya has become a matter of ridicule. One needs to know that all the
stories in the Upanishad’s have been derived after lot of study. It has a
hidden scientific meaning in it which needs to be discovered. However without
being sensitive about it, we have got involved in abusing our own Indian
culture.
Indra is a God of the space! He is
the son of the nectar! He should feel the need of having a body and
reincarnates himself on this earth?! What would be the meaning
behind this thought? ‘Any desire takes us from spirit to heaviness (which means
brings us back to this earth) and thus shakes the throne of Lord Indra’. While
making such stories, the scholars didn’t mind taking the risk of getting
insulted as this was meant for the progress of the society and to increase the
understanding of the nature to the human race. This shows their compassion
towards us. It is the honor of the bodily humans to convert the land of death
and land of deeds into the mother land. Thus it portrays that we get an opportunity
to make the life given to us useful for the motherland. The Lord
Indra of the space is the infinite form of the humans and the Indra or Indriyas
i.e. senses in humans is its concrete form. Human welfare is in keeping the
balance between the infinite and concrete form. The set of all form of senses
means Indra! Through these different senses in human, he can understand the
forms of the future.
We can understand this subject clearly by
thinking in more details about the Gods associated with the ten senses organs.
Indra – Hands, Trivikram – Legs, Agni(Fire) – Voice, Upastha – King, Yam –
Anus, in these organs of action the basis of hands was given to Indra. Amongst
the organs of knowledge, Ears – Direction, Skin – wind, Eyes – Sun, Tongue –
Sea and Nose – Ashwinikumar. The complete ownership of organs of knowledge and
actions is with Lord Indra as a King. Here as well there is a reference of organs of action
which needs to be noted. It also whispers the reason of why Hands have been
given the name of Jagannath (Lord of the Universe). At that time Lord Indras’
brightness reached Aahilya through his hands which were rays. ‘Hilya’ means
Mountain and also means non irrigated and unnourished body and ‘Aa’ means No.
Indra means rise of desire in the body. Here desire refers to the desire of
Lust. Due to lack of proper understand we misunderstand the process of deeds.
In the life-struggle, the humans’
smooth progression and rest, both are needed for them. If there is only
struggle, life will become unbearable. Therefore the nature has provided
moments of happiness and joy in our lives. The scholars of scriptures have
signaled us to abide by it.
The purpose behind making the couple
understand about the Kama before marriage is to make sure that in the
stressful marital life they should not get fed up of their lives. Kama means
Mind, Dharma means Body, Artha means Intellect and Moksha means Liberation.
These have been created so that on the basis of these philosophies the couples
should become the two wheels of the chariot and carry it towards forward for
being included in the nature.
As most of the humans think that Mind
and Body are the only ultimate truth, they find themselves in trouble. During
the beginning of nature, the Lord’s mindful thought of making the nature evolve
created the Kama. Later on, Mind, Seeds and Sand were developed.
Hence Kama is the form of the Lord. It comes to notice that
the Kama which got created from the seeds of the mind of the
ancient-man is the fulfillment of all his desires. Insulting Kama and
thinking of nature as an illusion means utilizing the opportunity of this birth
fruitlessly. While refusing the nature and its creation we should be watchful
about the fact that we are inattentively refusing the existence of the creator
as well.
As ‘Yamah Yamah Kamamadheete Tamah
Tamah Anena Saadhyet’ Rucha (mantra in the Veda) conveys, Kama means
desire. The way the person desires, he gets them satisfied in the same way.
Whether those are dreadful desires, desires directed towards the center of the
soul or the compassion on the circumference of the universe, all these get
fulfilled as per the motive. The moment the desire ripens it gets fulfilled.
This happens as the universe is a neutral state. This Rucha signals that the
purpose and forms of our desire is to be understood by us and also says how
they should be transitioned.
The desires or the Kama’s form
which is the body, when we start centering it towards the body as the medium
then our mind moves from infinity to concreteness. However, considering it as
the origin of energy, then the Lord of the centre stream is Shri Ganesha who is
the giver of Intellect. This means, Kama should be transformed with
the help of Intellect. By doing so, to give us guidance for releasing us from
the dices of deeds through liberation, Shri Ganesh makes His presence in our
form, at that place, carrying the power of restrain! Before coming
into this world from the womb, by breaking the dice of the unknown future
through restrain, we are ready to cut the umbilical cord of this worldly body.
It is in the welfare of the mankind
that, from one body to another, from one mind to another and from soul creating
a strong creative mind. As per the Vedic story, Shri Ganesha was born out of
the dirt of Mother Parvati. We need to think about what was the creative
thinking behind it. Through the progressive state of Kama, how Riddhi(Wealth)
& Siddhi(Accomplishment) can be sought, even this was told by the noted
scholars.
Even though our Kama’s utilization
through the birth of a child is for uplifting of the lineage, society and
nation, still in that the desire to experience the Shiva’s essence is because
of the need to understand the subtle purpose of the life.
A man cannot be a creator. He cannot
become a mother. Due to this he looks out for different ways of creation by
which he can be called a creator. He may also become a mother of something. A
female has the ability of creation from birth itself. Due to this lacking in
the man, he starts using his brain and strength. However this doesn’t show the
true fatherhood. Hence men have more necessity to be in Gurukul. Due to the
extreme affection of the Guru-Mother of the Gurukul, he gets introduced to the
female as a mother.
In today’s era a female has not
maintained herself a female itself, leave alone she being seen as a mother.
Similarly the male couldn’t maintain himself as a male nor as a father. While
getting introduced to the genders, the female should become a good mother and a
male a good father; the social welfare dwells by this. The reader should
fulfill the responsibility of this transformation successfully.
The subtle forms of this subject have
to be understood very delicately. The energy of Kama every time is a flow of
creation. Hence Indians created the Tantra Shastra (scripture which is a branch
of Veda). As per this scripture female was considered as the form of mother.
This again shows the maturity of the Indian thoughts. In the worship of Shakti
( Power / Strength ) ‘Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu Matrurupena Samsthita…’ was said
and the male considered himself blessed to bow his forehead onto her legs. In
the society where such noble honor to the female was developed, there the
moment of enjoyment was thoughtfully transformed into a form of prayer. Such
divine practice has not been done by any of the souls elsewhere on this earth.
Today few illiterates have kept a
devastate picture of the Tantra Shastra in front of the world. We need to be
alert about those whose purpose is to make you consider body as the only medium
of the worldly accomplishments. The traditional Shaiva and Vaishnav community
told the internal or the hidden meaning of serving the Kama. Instead of
conveying the exceptional meaning of Ida, Pingla &
Sushumna’s (the three important Nadi or ducts) (Sushumna Nadi
connects the base chakra to thecrown chakra. It is very important in Yoga and Tantra in general,
Pingala is associated with solar energy, Ida is associated with lunar energy
sometime it is based on solar energy) ascending and
descending breath-full conjunction, they become leading by conveying the
momentous happiness of the touch between the male and female. Those of us, who
prostrate before the immature intellect of the western culture, continue with
their wild behaviors and keep scanning through the different writing on law of
Kama, should read the study done by Maharishi Vatsyayan on this subject. This
study has to be taught from childhood itself. By doing
this Kama would become healthy, clear and sensible. Along with this,
the study of VidnyaanBhairava book in the form of Shiva-Parvati’s conversation
would also be helpful.
In the recent period, few psychos of
the Shankta tradition have spoiled the dignity of the this tradition. To stop
the improper behavior, human sacrifice etc carried out in the Shaiva, Vaishnav
and Shankta tradition, Adi Shankaracharya had to take a reincarnation
in Srinagar. Only then the improper behavior came to an end by bowing to
the authority of Adi Shankaracharya! Revered Pundit Gopinath Kaviraj put forth
some pure forms of Tantras in many of his books in the last century. This was
possible with the blessings of Shri Vishuddhananda.
When the deep understanding of any
subject is created and a human gets engrossed in it, at that point he thinks
about Kama. This has been experienced by all of us. Scientists have done many
experiments on this. Whether it be mediation in the name of God or the job of
farming, it could be any worldly or space related any job still it is possible
in it. By such experiments we can understand why the other side
of Kama is said to be energy. This state starts making a person more
and more pure. He doesn’t need to cover behind the veil of false celibacy. If
he does so, this hidden celibacy will turn out to be self-destructive and
pervert.
The scientific purpose behind the
traditional Lord Ganesh puja and immersion is to purify the 10 organs of senses
within the 10 days and immerse the accumulated muck. Lord Ganesh is the prime
God of the Tantras. The traditional rituals have highly contributed towards
including such tantras in the daily lives through festivals.
Through meditation when we reach the
deeper stages, at that time with the transformation ofKama we can start
going into intense yoga i.e. Samadhi. Animal is our past and Divine Soul is our
future. Through the observation of the animal i.e. our past life we can create
our future. Kama is our life’s flow. It is the support to what all
happens in the world of spirits.
Thought it is a part of the ancient
Tantra rituals, still at times it can become a misused ritual. Hence the
subject of authority becomes most important. That understand, experience,
person, its purpose being the subject of absolute Guru Parampara, the common
man’s intellect cannot understand its essence and the intrinsic forms. Hence
after a certain period of time, many of its subtle meanings have got dumb.
However through individual penance, many of the disciples have managed to
maintain its existence in the Guru-Lineage. This was also meant for not letting
it go in the wrong hands. These few disciples are still involved in such
activities of human welfare by making the use of the tantras at the right place
and right time and removing or helping to remove the many calamities of life.
Others who are not well-studied on this subject should not comment on them
based on their perception and shouldn’t provide their opinions as it would
cause a loss and also it is not their authority to do so. The common social
ethical bindings, thoughts and actions and pleasures are the laws set for the
common man so as to maintain the family and social disciple. These laws keep on
changing to form the law of Kama. The demoralization of Sita’s character, the
dragging of Draupati on single cloth in the assembly which was completely
crowded and the Indra’s lustful desire towards Aahilya, such incidents were
present in Kruta, Treta and Dwapar Yugas. Hence we cannot segregate ‘KalYug’
separately. Kali i.e. destruction is the lowest thought process of all the four
yugas. That has been present in every era. We cannot segregate yugas based on
these criteria. This has always been a part of our lives. With respect to Kama,
the individual experiences are the ways of penance and the words written on
this subject should be used just as a guidance. The individuals should do their
own study and contemplate on this subject.
Maharishi Vatsyayan has said that
every individual should accept all the three categories i.e. Dharma, Artha
& Kama in their lives and he has also brought to our notice the importance
of Kama (ref. KamaSutra 1.2.46-47) ‘Kama is required for the attainment of body
and hence it has the similarity to the food. Also the ultimate fruit of Dharma
and Artha is primarily the server of Kama.’ The flaws in Kama needs to be
understood (due to the flaws it shouldn’t be rejected). We do not stop cooking
because guests would be coming in our house; we do not stop growing pulses
because animals would eat it. Hence it is important to remove the flaws and
serve Kama as said by Maharishi Vatsyayan. He also says that by ignoring the
need of Kama, intoxicating flaws get generated and the bodily health doesn’t
get maintained.
Until today Indians have done
enormous work on this subject and the reader should do his own study on this
subject.
